34.013 Sorhagenia lophyrella (Buckthorn Bud-borer)
ws: 8-11 (MBGBI4.1); May-Aug; buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica); NS-A in S&SE.England
ID: Externally indistinguishable from other Sorhagenia species
Male genitalia: According to MBGBI4.1, distinguished from its congeners by: sacculus very short, ampulla and cucullus of ~= length, two pointed projections of unequal length from the costa and a triangular heavily sclerotised juxta. Fig 83 (MBGBI4.1 p257) also illustrates a difference in the shape of the apex of the aedeagus in lateral view - this being more acutely angled in S.lophyrella.
Female genitalia: Differs from S.rhamniella mainly in the shape of the ostial sclerotisation
