fw: m-16-20mm f-brachypterous; (Dec-)Feb-Apr; various broadleaved trees and shrubs; common in England, Wales and lowland Scotland.
ID: Brownish with distinct terminal interneural dots. Erannis defoliaria (Mottled Umber) may show dots or dashes in the terminal cilia. Agriopis aurantiaria (Scarce Umber) may have indistinct terminal interneural dots, is more orange-golden and flies Oct-Dec. The melanic form fuscata may lack the terminal dots.
