These species are characterized by a steeply tectiform resting posture and a prominent thoracic tuft. 11 are resident, 1 (Autographa gamma (Silver Y)) is a common to abundant migrant that then breeds in Britain, the other 11 are rare migrants (at least one of which is doubtfully British).
