fw: 17-21mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 38-44mm (MBGBI9); Jul-Aug; various herbaceous and woody plants; common throughout GB.
ID: Forewing ground colour ranges from light to dark reddish-brown to greyish-brown; markings obscure except for 2 black spots immediately proximal to the costal end of the subterminal line and usually the dorsal half of the kidney mark is black.
