66.002 Trichiura crataegi (Pale Eggar)
fw: 14-17mm; Aug-Sep; birch (Betula spp), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), hawthorn (Crataegus spp); locally common throughout GB
ID: Pale grey with two dark cross-lines bordering a darker grey median fascia; no white forewing spot. Thaumetopoea pityocampa (Pine Processionary) [Family: Notodontidae] has a similar colour and pattern but has a dark crescent mark in the median fascia of the forewing.
