70.084 Plemyria rubiginata (Blue-bordered Carpet)
fw: 12-15mm; Jun-Aug; various broad-leaved trees and shrubs especially alder (Alnus glutinosa) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa); common throughout England, Wales and lowland Scotland. 2 subspecies - P.r.rubiginata in lowland England & Wales, P.r.plumbata in N.England & Scotland.
ID: ssp rubiginata has a white ground colour and the median fascia is reduced so that only the costal portion is expressed. ssp plumbata has a complete or nearly complete median fascia. Form semifumosa which has a dark grey ground colour is frequent in ssp plumbata. The characteristic grey terminal border is present in all these forms.
