35.011 Anacampsis populella (Poplar Roller)
ws: 14-19mm; Jul-Aug; poplar/aspen (Populus spp), willows (Salix spp); common throughout GB except S.Scotland
ID: See Anacampsis. A.populella/blattariella are very similar and are only reliably separable by genital examination.
Male genitalia: 1. The sclerotised arc in the apical half of the aedeagus is L-shaped, in contact with ventral surface of aedeagus for ~1/4 the length of the arc and crosses 2/3 of the width of the aedeagus at the anterior (basal) end of the arc. 2. The uncus is truncately pointed or peaked 3. In lateral view, the valvae reach the (ventral) margin of the vinculum but do not project beyond this point.
Female genitalia: The posterior margin of the dorsal plate of S8 which is broadly rounded with a small apical pimple.
Male genitalia: 1.
