49.283 Gypsonoma aceriana (White Cloaked Tortrix)
ws: 12-15mm; Jul; poplars (Populus spp); local in S.England
ID: Similar to G.sociana, G.dealbana and Spilonota ocellana. S.ocellana has a prominent triangular pre-tornal mark and several prominent black dashes in the ocellus, G.sociana has a clear white and G.dealbana a creamy-white frons and vertex. Other features distinguishing G.aceriana from G.sociana/dealbana are a straighter distal margin to the basal patch and a black centre to the ochreous apical spot.
