49.343 Cydia amplana (Rusty Acorn Piercer)
ws: 16-20mm; Aug; nuts of oak (Quercus spp), Hazel, Beech and Walnut; rare migrant, mainly S.coast of England, first British record 1990.
ID: Not described in BTM, but appears to be characterised by a peachy ground colour with a pale mediodorsal blotch which is crossed by narrow dark strigulae and bounded proximally and distally by dark fasciae of variable strength.
Male genitalia: (shown at dissection group) aedeagus distinctive (see images); valva with a small lobe near the ventral margin of neck; tegumen with a small apical point.
