70.182 Eupithecia assimilata (Currant Pug)
fw: 9-12mm; bivoltine in south May-Jun, Aug, univoltine in north Jun-Jul; hop (Humulus lupulus), blackcurrant / redcurrant (Ribes nigrum/rubrum); common in lowland areas throughout Britain.
ID: forewing unbanded reddish-brown with conspicuous black spots on costa; conspicuous elongate black central spot; very conspicuous white tornal spot. E.asbsinthiata (Wormwood Pug) shows a similar forewing pattern; it averages larger (fw 11-13mm); has a more elongate, less rounded forewing, with a less prominent white tornal spot. E.tripunctaria (White-spotted Pug) is greyer and more banded with cross-lines and it usually shows a distinctive pattern of white spots on the forewing, hindwing, thorax and abdomen. E.trisignaria (Triple-spotted Pug) lacks a white tornal spot. E.expallidata (Bleached Pug) is larger (fw 12-13mm) and paler and has a weak pale tornal spot.
