73.031 Tyta luctuosa (Four-spotted)
fw: 12-13mm; bivoltine at Portland May-Jun, Jul-Sep, univoltine elsewhere May-Jul, diurnal on sunny days and nocturnal; field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis); NS-A with two large populations (Portland, Dorset and along the east coast mainline railway from Peterborough to Helpston) and scattered colonies elsewhere in SC and SE.England.
The only member of the now redundant subfamily: Ophiderinae which has remained in Family: Noctuidae – the rest having been divided amongst 3 subfamilies in Family: Erebidae.

ID: Forewing brown-black with a large pale postmedian costal spot; terminal fringe mostly white but with a black section in tornal half. Hindwing black with a broad white median fascia and a variable amount of white at the base; fringes white with a short black section at mid-termen.
