fw: 15-18mm; Aug-Oct; various herbaceous plants; ssp lichenea - south coast of England, west coasts north to SW.Scotland, east coast north to Yorkshire, occasionally inland; ssp scillonea - Isles of Scilly.
Polymixis lichenea (Feathered Ranunculus) ssp scillonia §6 male
ID: Antennae pectinate in male. ssp lichenea - forewing ground colour usually greyish-green, but may be brownish or yellowish, dusted with whitish-grey; hindwing whitish in male, grey in female, with bold black marginal dashes and a variable median line. Ssp scillonea - forewing ground colour darker green, variably freckled blackish and with a contrasting whitish kidney mark. P.xanthomista (Black-banded) has a diffuse dark partial median fascia; the male antennae are simple; and the hindwing shows a narrow more or less continuous marginal line and lacks a median line
