Diarsia
A small black dot (which may be considered as a reduced dart mark) between the oval and the dorsum is characteristic of the genus.
The species can be very similar and may require genital dissection for confident identification, but most specimens can be distinguished on the following features:
D.dahlii: pale subterminal line, obscure kidney mark in the male
D.brunnea: dark postmedian fascia, lacks pale subterminal line, black mark between oval and kidney
D.mendica: scalloped and irregularly curved postmedian line, variable black mark between kidney and oval
D.rubi: pinkish-brown ground colour, smooth evenly curved postmedian line
D.florida: as D.rubi but flies in Jun-Jul in E.Anglia, N.England and Wales
