65.003 Watsonalla cultraria (Barred Hook-tip)
fw: 12-17mm (Waring & Townsend); bivoltine May-Jun, Jul-Sep; beech (Fagus sylvatica); local in beech woods on calcareous soils mainly in S.England, but occurs north to N.England.
ID: Contrastingly dark forewing median fascia; obscure single central forewing spot; no hindwing spots. W.binaria (Oak hook-tip) is similar but the median fascia is more-or-less concolorous with the rest of the forewing; it has two more prominent forewing spots and two central hindwing spots. In both species the male is distinguished by having bipectinate antennae; simple in female
