Quercus (pedunculate oak); common in England and Wales.
ID: Large round central spot; white patch distal to central spot; usually prominent black wedges distal to central spot; black dashes often present on veins distal to central spot; often with orange-brown scales along costa and dorsum. E.tantillaria (Dwarf Pug) has a larger black central spot which lacks the white patch and black wedges distal to it; it’s cross-lines are usually more distinct. E.abbreviata (Brindled Pug) has a smaller more elongate black central spot.
