73.253 Tholera decimalis (Feathered Gothic)
fw: 16-22mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 38-48mm (MBGBI9); Aug-Sep; hard-bladed grasses eg mat-grass (Nardus stricta), sheep's-fescue (Festuca ovina); common in rough grassland in England and Wales, more local in Scotland.
ID: Whitish streaks along forewing veins; black arrowheads between the veins on the proximal side of the narrow whitish subterminal line; costa straight (may be slightly curved in female); male antenna strongly bipectinate, simple in female. Sideridis reticulata (Bordered Gothic) and Naenia typica (Gothic) also show whitish veins and black arrowheads but fly May-Jul and Jun-Jul respectively, have a curved costa, additional pale antemedian and postmedian lines and the male has simple antennae.
