71.027 Clostera curtula (Chocolate-tip)
fw: 13-18mm; bivoltine in England & Wales Apr-May, Aug-Sep, univoltine in Scotland Jun; aspen & other poplars (Populus spp), willows/sallows (Salix spp); local in England & Wales with an isolated Scottish population in Inverness-shire and Aberdeenshire.
ID: Similar to C.anachoreta (Scarce Chocolate-tip) and C.pigra (Small Choclate-tip). In C.curtula the 'chocolate tip' is cut off proximally by the subterminal white cross-line and there are no tornal black spots. In C.anchoreta the 'chocolate tip' extends proximal to the subterminal white line and there is one medium and one small black tornal spots. C.pigra is smaller (fw: 11-14mm) and the the 'chocolate tip' is much less well defined.
