49.308 Rhyacionia logaea (Elgin Shoot Moth)
ws: 14-18mm (BTM), fw 6.5-9mm (Sterling & Parsons); Apr-May; pines (Pinus spp), Sitka spruce (Picea stichensis); NS-B pine woodland in NE.Scotland
ID: Angle between costa and termen obviously more acute than in its congeners. Forewing strigulate with basal ⅔ grey, apical ⅓ suffused orange. Most similar in appearance to Clavigesta purdeyi and Pseudococcyx turionella; the former flies June to September and does not occur in Scotland; the latter has orange labial palps, head and much of thorax.
