fw: m-15-17mm f-apterous; Feb-Mar; pedunculate oak (Quercus robur); fairly common in oakwoods in SE.England, more local in the rest of England, Wales and SE.Scotland
ID: Males are similar in wing pattern and
broad hairy thorax to males of Phigalia pilosaria (Pale Brindled Beauty) and both
sexes of Lycia hirtaria (Brindled Beauty) but are smaller than either of these
species (fw 19-24mm).
