73.327 Agrotis ipsolon (Dark Sword-grass)
fw: 15-25mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 40-55mm (MBGBI9); common migrant; all year, peak Jul-Oct
ID: A large elongate moth. Dominent forewing colour varies from pale beown through purplish-brown to blackish; antemedian and especially postemedian fasciae more or less contrastingly pale except at the costa; a short black streak extends distally from kidney mark to and usually through the postmedian line; 2 (or more) short black streaks extend proximally from the subterminal line. Antenna bipectinate in male, simple in female.
