Small to medium ws: 8-22mm; Rest with front end slightly to strongly raised, wings involute or flat, antennae back over forewings;
Head smooth-scaled; Ocelli present or absent; Antennae filiform or shortly serrate, 2/3-3/4 length of forewing, scape usually without, sometimes with, pecten (which may be reduced to a single bristle); Labial palps strongly upcurved, S2 often with projecting scales, S3 smooth
Maxillary palps minute, folded; Proboscis long, scaled; Forewing moderately to strongly elongate, two discal and one plical spots usually present;
Hindwing may be narrower or broader than forewing; Hindtibia with dorsal erect hair-like scales
