70.021 Scopula (Scopula) ornata (Lace Border)
fw: 12-13mm (Waring & Townsend); May-Jun, Jul-Sep; thyme (Thymus), marjoram (Oreganum); NS-A North Downs of Surrey and Kent
ID: Pattern distinctive and unlikely to be confused. Wings largely white, with smudgy grey shading along costa. Forewing: fine brown antemedian line; faint brown median line; fine, undulating, postmedian line with 2 brown blotches distal to it, one at the dorsal end and one just costal to its centre, the line being accented adjacent to these blotches; 2 faint grey blotches between the brown blotches; a subterminal row of faint grey blotches; a fine dark terminal line. Hindwing similar to forewing except the antemedian line is replaced by a variable number of diffuse dark spots and there is a central black spot just distal to the median line
