49.154 Orthotaenia undulana (Dusky Marble)
ws: 15-20mm; May-Jul; various shrubs and trees; common throughout GB
Synonym: Phiaris urticana (Pierce & Metcalfe)
Synonym: Phiaris urticana (Pierce & Metcalfe)
ID: Considerable variation in forewing colour but not much variation in the markings. May be similar to Celypha lacunana and usually distinguishable from it by the lack of the longitudinal streak of (pale) ground colour shown by C.lacunana. C.lacunana also usually has more obvious dark sections of the apical and tornal cilia. Doubtful cases are readily distinguished by examination of the genitalia.
