63.066 Scoparia pyralella (Brown-spot Grey)
ws: 17-20mm (Goater), fw: 8-10mm (Sterling & Parsons) ; Jun; decaying vegetation; common throughout GB, less so in Scotland
ID: Fresh specimens with light brown stigmata and brownish (rather than grey or blackish) markings may be identified on external features.
Genital dissection will readily identify doubtful specimens
Male genitalia: Aedeagus with a single bundle of ~5 relatively fine cornuti, progressively longer from base to apex, arising from a linear base plate.
Female genitalia: Ductus bursae clearly narrower than antrum; posterior sclerotisation short, narrow; anterior sclerotisation short, discrete - total sclerotisation ~1/6 length of ductus bursae.
