fw: 13-15mm; May-Jul, diurnal; white/red clover (Trifolium repens/pratense), common bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), black medick / lucerne (Medicago lupulina/sativa), tufted vetch (Vicia cracca); mainly on calcareous grassland, common in S.England, local in N.England, Wales and S.Scotland.
ID: Forewing grey-brown, with subbasal and median dark brown fasciae and a dark brown subterminal costal wedge; hindwing, often partly exposed at rest, is brown at base, orange towards termen, with a subterminal brown cross-band and brown-lined veins.
