ws: 10-12mm (MBGBI4.2); Jun-Aug; blackthorn (Prunus spinosa); pRDB, hedgerows and scrub in Worcestershire, Hertfordshire and Essex
ID: Keyed in MBGBI4.2, once known to be in genus Gelechia, as: S2 of labial palp without a large ventral tuft of scales; without a distinct black mark at base of costa; A1-3 not yellow on dorsum; first discal stigma not white-ringed. However, genital determination required to establish genus and confirm identity.
Female genitalia: distinguished particularly by the pattern of sclerotisation of the ventral surface of A8 - the posterior margin of the sclerotisation is extended posterolaterally in the form of a pair of triangles; the anterior margin is notched in the midline; a triangular (?conical) colliculum at the posterior end of the ductus bursae "fits" into this notch.
