Synonym: Hemimene acuminatana (Pierce & Metcalfe)
ID: Named from the acuminate (tapering to a point) apex of the forewing; also characterised by the dark purplish-brown colour and sharply demarcated grey apices of the cilia. D.consortana is similar, averages smaller (ws 9-12mm), darker and browner, and has more diffuse apical and subbasal dark lines in the terminal cilia. However, genital dissection is required for confident separation of these species.
Male genitalia: D.consortana has a much deeper emargination of the ventral edge of the valva and a much narrower neck. Width of neck at narrowest point just under 1/2 length of cucullus in D.acuminatana, ~1/4 in D.consortana.
Female genitalia: Anterior margin of ostium smoothly "wide-U"-shaped in D.acuminatana; angular with a deep central U in D.consortana.
