70.218 Chiasmia clathrata (Latticed Heath)
fw: 11-15mm; bivoltine May-Jun, Jul-Sep; clovers/trefoils (Trifolium spp), lucerne (Medicago sativa); common in England, Wales and
S.Scotland
ID: Cleanly marked network of dark brown cross-lines and veins on a pale ground colour; fringes chequered. Varies in width of cross-lines. Other variation is unusual but ranges from form alboguttata which has entirely dark brown wings apart from a few pale spots and chequered fringes to form obsoletissima which is creamy yellow without cross-bands. Ematurga atomaria (Common Heath) is somewhat similar but its markings are more diffuse, the veins are not or not so distinctly marked and the male has feathered antennae.
