49.157 Hedya pruniana (Plum Tortrix)
ws: 15-18mm; May-Jul; blackthorn, plum, cherry (Prunus spinosa/domestica/avium); common throughout GB
Synonym: Olethreutes pruniana (Pierce & Metcalfe)
Synonym: Olethreutes pruniana (Pierce & Metcalfe)
ID: Similar to H.nubiferana. Both species show an angulation around the middle of the distal edge of the median fascia beyond which are two black dots. In H.pruniana these dots are distal to the angulation while in H.nubiferana they are costal to it. H.ochroleucana is also similar but it has the pale distal area of the forewing sandy-ochreous cream rather than white and it lacks any greyish suffusion in this area.
