52.013 Synathedon tipuliformis (Currant Clearwing)
ws: 17-20mm (MBGBI2), fw: 8-10mm (Waring); Jun-Jul; blackcurrant/redcurrant (Ribes nigrum/rubrum); supposedly NS-B but under-recorded and comes very readily and in numbers to pheromone lures at eg pick-your-own farms, widespread throughout GB.
Comes readily to TIP lure 9am to 7pm with a mid-afternoon peakMale has yellow bands on abdominal S2,5,6&7 (band on S6 incomplete in specimen §1); female lacks the yellow band on S7.
Male shows a few yellow scales in the anal tuft; no yellow scales in female anal tuft.
SImilar to S.flaviventris (Sallow Clearwing) which lacks the yellow stripes bordering the tegulae
