20.007 Argyresthia (Argyresthia) cupressella (Cypress Tip Moth)
ws: 8-9mm, fw: 4-5mm; May-Jul; juniper (Juniperus communis), Leyland cypress (Cupressocyparis leylandii), Lawsons cypress (Chaemaecyparis lawsoniana); accidental introduction from North America, first recorded in GB 1997, now established in much of England
ID: Similar to A.dilectella which has: 2 brown ciliary lines curving around the apex; a more distinct apical spot; more linear basal markings with 2 broad brown streaks reaching to just over 1/3 of the forewing length; averages smaller (ws 7-9mm, fw 3.5-4.5mm) and flies later (Jul-Aug) though with some overlap.
