70.036 Cyclophora punctaria (Maiden's Blush)
fw: 13-16mm; bivoltine May-Jul, Jul-Sep; oak (Quercus spp); local in England and Wales, scarce in S.Scotland
ID: Somewhat variable. Absence of central dark-edged white spots on each wing distinguishes C.punctaria from all other Cyclophora species except C.linearia (Clay Triple-lines) which lacks any grey irroration. Scopula imitaria (Small Blood-vein) has a black central spot on each wing and continuous (not dotted) 1st and 3rd lines.
