70.096 Chloroclysta miata (Autumn Green Carpet)
fw: 15-17mm; Sep-May (overwintering as adult); various broad-leaved trees; local throughout GB but uncommon in S&SE England
Chloroclysta miata (Autumn Green Carpet) §1 female
ID: Similar to C.siterata (Red-green carpet) but differs in the following features (roughly in order of reliability) - features of C.miata given first:
1) hindwing whitish vs dark grey-brown; 2) dorsal end of median fascia similar to rest of median fascia vs noticeably darker; 3) ground colour dull medium olive-green vs usually dark green, but variable and may be bright green; 4) no reddish-brown streaks vs with reddish-brown streaks (but these are not always present); 5) distal edge of basal fascia and both edges of median fascia narrowly and fairly evenly edged white vs variable white edging (may be absent) most striking at costal and dorsal ends of the distal margin of the median fascia.
