73.245 Orthosia (Monima) cruda (Small Quaker)
fw: 12-15mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 28-32mm (MBGBI9); Feb-May; mainly oaks (Quercus spp); common in broadleaved woodland in England and Wales, local in Scotland.
ID: Ground colour ranges from pale to dark brown and may be tinged reddish, whitish or greyish; irroration with black scales gives a 'rough' texture. Narrow kidney mark, small oval which may be obscured. Small size and early flight season are generally sufficient to identify. O.cerasi (Common Quaker) overlaps in size and flight season but has large pale-outlined stigmata and a more prominent pale subterminal line.
