63.009 Pyrausta nigrata (Wavy-barred Sable)
ws: 14-17mm; bivoltine jun-Jul, Sep-Oct; wild thyme (Thymus polytrichus), marjoram (Origanum vulgare), corn mint (Mentha arvensis); local on downland in S.England and Cumbria (and once in my garden in an urban area on clay soil on the Thames Estuary!)
ID: P.cingulata is also blackish but its creamy white postmedian line is straight or somewhat curved and not angulate as in P.nigrata. The all white cilia distinguish both these Pyrausta species from several somewhat similar rare migrants.
