73.280 Hecatera dysodea (Small Ranunculus)
fw: 14-15mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 32-36mm (MBGBI9); Jun-Aug; prickly lettuce (Lactuca serriola); RDB - formerly fairly common in E.Anglia and SE.England, largely disappeared between 1914 and 1997 since when it has become re-established in Kent and Essex.
ID: Forewing ground colour grey with a darker grey median fascia, mottled with black and orange scales. Polymixis flavicincta/lichenea (Large/Feathered Ranunculus) have a similar forewing pattern but are larger (17-22mm and 15-18mm respectively); hindwing of P.lichenea is largely white.
