72.031 Tyria jacobaea (Cinnabar)
fw: 17-23mm, ws: 35-45mm; May-Aug, diurnal; common ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris); common in England and Wales, local and mainly coastal in Scotland
ID: Forewing black with a long red subcostal stripe, a shorter red dorsal stripe and two red spots on the termen; hindwing pink with a black fringe. Rare variant forms are: flavescens - all red marks replaced with yellow; coneyi - forewing red with black border; negrana - both wings entirely black.
Unlikely to be confused but superficially somewhat similar to Zygaena species (Family: Zygaenidae)
