73.368 Naenia typica (Gothic)
fw: 17-22mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 36-46mm (MBGBI9); Jun-Jul; various herbaceous and woody plants; local in lowland areas throughout GB.
ID: Forewing fuscous-brown; veins lined whitish, crosslines whitish and stigmata outlined whitish; hindwing fuscous.Sideridis reticulata (Bordered Gothic) has a narrower forewing and a pale hindwing with a discal spot and dark border; forewing has more prominent pale, smoothly curved antemedian and postmedian lines. Tholera decimalis (Feathered Gothic) flies August-September, has dark antemedian and postmedian lines and the male has bipectinate antennae. Both these similar species have hairy eyes, glabrous in N.typica.
