ws: 25-28mm; Jun-Jul (Goater, UK Moths) May-Sep (Hants Moths); heather (Erica spp); local on heaths throughout GB
Note that §2 obtained on 31st August with fw 10.8mm would have ws ~22.5 - 23.0mm - perhaps there is a 2nd generation with a smaller size range?

Pyla fusca §1 male
ID: Similar to Ortholepis betulae and Apomyelois bistriatella. O.betulae has a broader forewing with an evenly arched costa (nearly straight to second line in M.fusca); a scale tuft proximal to first line; first line more transverse (V-shaped in M.fusca); second line straight (irregular zig-zag in M.fusca). A.bistriatella also has a broader forewing; first line whiter and more curved; dark band in cilia 1/3 width of fringe (1/5 in M.fusca); hindwing more opalescent with a more distinct border (Ref: Goater)
