fw: 17-20mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 38-44mm (MBGBI9); May-Jun, partially bivoltine in south Jul-Aug; various herbaceous plants; NS-B in coastal sand-dunes, shingle and marshes from the Moray Firth all around the English coast to S.Cumbria and in breckland
Synonym: Sideridis albicolon (MBGBI9, Waring & Townsend)

ID: Characterised by a pair of white spots (the 'colon') at the dorsal end of the distal margin of the kidney mark; otherwise a fairly nondescript brown Noctuid. Lacks the 'W" in the subterminal line shown by similar species.
