73.216 Cosmia (Calymnia) trapezina (Dun-bar)
fw: 13-16mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 28-38mm (MBGBI10); Jul-Sep; many broadleaved trees and shrubs, larger larvae becoming omnivorous; common throughout GB.
ID: Variable. Ground colour is usually some shade of brown, but may be greyish or reddish. Characterised by a fairly straight steeply diagonal antemedian line (cutting the dorsum nearer the termen) and a curved postmedian line (convex towards the termen). The median fascia between these lines is usually darker than the ground colour; kidney mark usually apparent and has a black dot at its dorsal margin. Enargia paleacea (Angle-striped Sallow) can show a similar pattern but is larger (fw 17-20mm) and the antemedian line is angled.
