ws: 14-19mm; Bivoltine May, Aug; flies on warm afternoons and comes to light; sheep's sorrel (Rumex acetosella); local on breck, heath, moor and woodland clearings in England

Generic features: Head with appressed scales; Ocelli present; Antenna 3/4 length of forewing, apical 2/5 serrate, scape without pecten
Labial palp S3 slighly longer than S2, S2 with furrowed brush of long scales ventrally; Forewing elongate; Hindwing trapezoidal, slightly broader than forewing, apex slightly produced, termen nearly straight, tornus rounded, cilia 3/4 breadth of wing; Veins 7&6 separate, 4&3 connate
Male genitalia: gnathos absent/inconspicuous, uncus pointed, valvae ending in stout spine
ID to genus from male genitalia: S8 divided into dorsal and ventral plates; gnathos absent; uncus pointed; valva with a stout spine at apex > Aroga
Monospecific. The female genitalia are just as distinctive, if not more so. The sclerotisation of S8 and the signum look like alien life-forms attacking the ovipositor and bursa copulatrix respectively.
