ws: m38-46mm, f44-52mm; May-Jun; ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata); confined to the south coast of the Isle of Wight, with an occasional colony on the south Hampshire coast.

ID: Chequered pattern of orange and black on upperside with black spots in a postmedian row on the hindwing. Underside with alternating white and orange bands; black spots in the postmedian orange band and at the distal edge of the terminal white band.
