fw: 13-15mm; Jul-Aug, occasionally bivoltine in south Sep-Oct; privet (Ligustrum spp); common in England
ID: Characterised by sandy-brown colour; 3 wavy forewing cross-lines the central of which is usually heavily shaded distally, this line and its shading 'continuing' onto the hindwing; both wings have a central black spot which is weaker on the forewing than the hindwing.
