32.044 Depressaria douglasella (Carrot Brown)
ws: 17-21mm (MBGBI 4.1); Jul-Sep; wild carrot (Daucus carota), wild parsnip (Pastanica sativa); NS-B local in grassland and wasteland in England and Wales, mainly on S,SE&NW coasts
ID from key: Forewing with round white dot in disc at 2/3 (though this does seem rather obscure in §1); head and thorax paler than forewing; forewing greyish-brown (rather than pinkish-brown) > D.douglasella
Male genitalia: Only D.douglasella and D.sordidatella show a distinctly bifid apex to a process at the lateral end of the sacculus (D.pulcherrimella has a hint of a bifid process). They probably differ in that the lateral arm (in the set position) of the bifid process is dominant in D.douglasella, while the medial arm is dominant in D.sordidatella; and the juxta is more or less quadrate in D.sordidatella and more elongate (longer than wide) in D.douglasella (but these two are more readily distinguishable on external features as the thorax is concolorous with the forewing in D.sordidatella)
