65.012 Thetheella fluctuosa (Satin Lutestring)
fw: 17-21mm; Jun-Aug; birch (Betula spp); local in established broad-leaved woodland throughout GB.
ID: Similar to Ochropacha duplaris (Common Lutestring) but differs in: size, O.duplaris being smaller albeit with some overlap (fw 14-18mm); a small dark crescent in the centre of the forewing in T.fluctuosa, 2 dark spots being in this position in O.duplaris; and a diagonal dark dash near the forewing apex which meets the costa coincident with a pale subterminal line in T.fluctuosa and at the apex in O.duplaris.
