Clepsis consimilana §5 male
ID: Sexually dimorphic; the female larger, darker reddish and with obsolete or much reduced fasciate markings. The ground colour in the male is variable from yellowish to brownish and has darker markings; a fuscous spot at the dorsal end of the usually otherwise obsolete subbasal fascia; a fuscous spot and at the tornus; a usually well-marked median fascia from mid-costa to tornus; a costal streak from base to median fascia; a preapical costal streak that may extend to join the median fascia. The two fuscous spots may be apparent in reduced form the female, which shows some reticulation of the otherwise unmarked reddish forewing. Intensity of forewing colour varies in both sexes and strength of the markings varies in the male, occasionally so much so that it resembles the female (eg §6).
Male genitalia: Valva reduced; harpe - a ridge with 8-9 long curved spines; sacculus short with a point on ventral margin; transtilla divided, the lobes coarsely dentate; uncus broad; aedeagus nearly straight, central projecting spine, 3 cornuti.
Female genitalia: signum curved, dentate on edge.
