49.076 Acleris cristana (Tufted Tortrix)
ws: 18-22mm; Aug-May; rosaceous trees and bushes; local in woodland in S.England
ID: Polymorphic with more than 100 forms described by Manley (1973). Although these forms are highly variable in colouration most are readily distinguished from other species by the very large mid-wing scale-tuft. The form shown by §1is spadiceana.
