49.367 Pammene fasciana (Acorn Piercer)
ws: 13-17mm; May-Aug; oak (Quercus), sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa); local throughout GB, more common in south
Synonym: Pammene juliana (Pierce & Metcalfe). Considered conspecific with P.herrichiana in BTM.

ID: Characterised by the large medio-dorsal blotch extending towards the apex at its costal end; 2 or 3 black spots proximal to the ocellus and a series of black dashes in the ocellus. P herrichiana is similar but has a darker grey suffusion, reduced ochreous colouration, weaker ocellus and its medio-dorsal blotch truncate.
