70.060 Epirrhoe tristata (Small Argent & Sable)
fw: 11-13mm; May-Jul, partially bivoltine in SW.England - Aug; common on high moorland and high limestone grassland in Scotland, Wales and N.England also on heaths and mosses in Devon
ID: Characterised and distinguished from similar species by: strongly chequered fringe; terminal cross-band as dark as central cross-band; white band distal to central band divided by a line of small dark dots. Epirrhoe alternata (Common Carpet) has a less strongly contrasted fringe; the terminal cross-band is paler than the central cross-band at least in its dorsal half; and the white band is divided by a narrow faint but more-or-less complete grey line.
